Slow living is a simple concept, but it can be difficult for some to implement and stick with due to the belief of needing to be busy all the time.

Here are a few ways to dive into slow living:

1. Slow Down

The first step to slow living is to slow down. You can incorporate this into many different areas of your life. Keep in mind that slowing down may be harder than it seems, especially if you are used to the constant go  - go  - go of life.

Here are a few ways you can practice slowing down:

  • Drive the posted speed limit.

  • Scheduling rest and relaxation into your day.

  • Being productive during your workday so you can leave on time.

  • Eat dinner slower, without multitasking.

  • Practice patience.

2. Be Intentional

Time is one of the most important things you have. Don't waste it. Be intentional with your time.

Don't spend your days stressing out about the past or worrying about the future. Stay present. When you live in the moment, it's a lot easier to find peace.

3. Say "No" More

Have you ever committed to something that you didn't really have any interest in? Well, here's your chance to finally stop doing that. It's not selfish to say no.

By saying no to the things that don't serve you, you have more time and energy for the things that do. Don't fill your days with activities just to fill your calendar. You'll be a lot more productive if you focus on things that are actually important to you.

4. Sleep More

Slow living allows you to actually get the necessary amount of sleep needed for your body to function and recover.

Raise your hand if you've ever sacrificed your sleep by going to bed later or waking up earlier just to get more work done or cross something off of your to-do list.

This may work for short periods of time, but in the long run, the lack of sleep can have a huge impact on your overall health and wellness.
